My old brain makes an oblique reference to "An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge", a short story by Ambrose Bierce that has never left me. I wonder if the same creek carved the canyon setting for your excellent poem. Sometimes, over the years, I have used maps to get its course, but it is a long creek and I never got its limits. Neither did Bierce.
Bierce was certainly an interesting feller ... his death alone an intriguing mystery ... I concur all streams and rivers and creeks are one ... so in that big picture sense, yes ... the same. However, that might not satisfy the geologist and geographer... :)
I read the story and also saw a disturbing short film based on it ... it has never left me, either ...
