Screen Door

... screen door opens to small faces

... withered hands tenderly place drooping cowslips in a green vase

... crossed legs cradle a favorite book

... on the page a grizzly bear scooping salmon from a stream

... summer seeping through etched glass

    1. Thanks, Kate. I vividly recall standing on my grandparent's porch in that very scenario...

  2. I love the sound of a screen door. It's like hearing from a friend. They all sound a bit different too. The old wooden screen doors had the most character. I would love to hear the sound of the old screen door on back door of my childhood home. Most certainly I would recognize it. And the last time I heard it was more than 40 years ago.

    1. Screen door as friend ... that is a wonderful thought. They do have their different sounds, don't they? Steven, this is a beautiful comment. I'm so glad you share your childhood memories... As I have often said, ours seem remarkably similar.

  3. The sound of a screen door closing is comforting.
As a young boy I was fascinated by how the spring pulled the door shut.
    Summer is almost here!
