On Pine Mountain

                                               while my father hunts grouse

                                               I explore the cabin

                                               lying on the bunk

                                               standing at the woodstove

  2. Aren't we always trying out future selves? At least, we are, if we're truly living.

  4. I guess it is the boundlessness that each of us seek. That which cannot be attained now, we wish to see that in the future. Nature's wonderful screen is time. It gives us the opportunity to learn from history and to yearn for the future. Ironically, both can happen only in the present.

Childhood innocence makes the yearning more profound and lively. Nice.

  5. Although we didn't know it at the time childhood really was trying out our future selves. I spent so much time hanging out in the woods I never knew the preparation I was getting. Nice thoughts, wonderful words.

    1. In so many ways, yes ... I sometimes feel I'm back to being my ten year old self with a place of her own ... :)
