Returning

... returning to my childhood  of crows // fence lines

                        ... Indians in the woods

... here ... he says ... wear this feather in your hair

  2. Yes, Indians in the woods. Snorri Sturluson wrote (Icelandic Edda) that 2 crows flew from the Tree Of Life to survey the world. One was Memory. One was Thought. Closest I recall, he wrote, "I fear for Thought; I fear much more for Memory." The feather in your hair is for your protection. Teresa, you get me thinking the oddest things. Perhaps I need a feather.

    1. And to let them know I'm one of them ...
Feathers, according to Native Americans (Indians) are a form of prayer, so, yes, by all means, wear a feather. :)

  3. I have a compulsion to pick up feathers when I find them. I had quite a collection at one point. Then, I decided to get rid of them. As soon as I did, I started picking them up again.

One of the great mysteries I ponder from time to time: I never have found a cardinal's feather. Perhaps I need to wander farther into the woods.

I haven't, either. Mmmm ... the wonders of nature ...

    1. Yes, I have a refrigerator magnet that says, "Sometimes, 'right back where you started from' is right where you belong." It's a good feeling, isn't it? :)

  5. Maybe because it's a holiday, maybe because I spent a little time sharing my own past with new friends yesterday, maybe just because... "right back where you started from" brought this to mind, and it's making me smile and smile. Feeling light.

And here's a smile, too. This past week, for the first time ever, I have a male cardinal visiting my feeder. Even if he doesn't leave a feather, I'm enjoying the ones he still wears.

    1. Linda, thanks so much for this comment today. It's perfect. I Loved listening to that song ... been a long time. And I have not yet seen a cardinal this year. I sure hope they come around. Aren't they the day brighteners? :)
