Across the Frozen River

                                                                ... across the frozen river

                                 ... coyotes summon the moon

... under the porch light the dog listens

  2. I saw a coyote for the first time in Canada in the Summer. It was on the edge of one of Ontario's endless woodlands. He or she looked kinda down on their luck. But strangely majestic. Gave us a contemptuous look and strolled into the thickets.

    1. They are odd creatures ... always a bit on the mangy side but so oblivious to us humans that I can't help but admire them. They seem to be regulars in my life ...

  3. I feel the silence in this ..the beauty of a simple, sacred moment.

I'll never forget sitting by a fire in an isolated part of Oregon and hearing the coyotes howl. It was one of the most beautiful things i heard. And then the silence ..it was almost melancholic ..

    1. My golden, Buddy, and I have experienced this .. these are, indeed, sacred moments.
What a wonderful memory. They do invite a deep melancholy in experiences and places such as this.
