strange how you came to mind
only to read of your passing the very next day
remember that summer we ran for
the bus as they threatened to leave without us
you'd stopped to pick a flower for my hair
our laughter, the dandelion safely tucked behind my ear

Absolutely lovely, Teresa --the poem too. There are memories in us that consumed only split-seconds in the making, and yet contain an enduring emotional charge. You have expressed that here. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Geo., for your kindness and for your thoughtful comment. Both are so very much appreciated.
DeleteMemory moments! You captured this well.
ReplyDeleteSo sad to lose people from past times in our life. My BFF from high school is dying of congestive heart failure. She will leave a hole in my soul.
Thank you, Rita. I'm sorry you're losing your friend. It's that time of life, it seems, when we have to start letting go .... wishing you peace. xx
DeleteSo nice to read this enchanting piece after my ‘usual’ long absence. I have experienced the scenario in the first two lines many times. The strange feelings about someone would arise from somewhere and fill the heart awhile, until you hear either the welcoming or unwelcoming news about the person. And, how fitting the picture and title is!! Lovely!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much! It's so good to see you again. I trust all is well with you.
