Marigolds

... immersed in autumn / I walk around my yard

                                 ... mushrooms
                                                                           ... maples
                                                                                                           ... the marigolds last breath

  2. My marigolds are gone now. I'm afraid they left to make room for the icicles that will descend from above their window box.

    1. Sounds like winter is on the move. We had a thunderstorm last night ... still fairly warm. I'm enjoying autumn but there's something nice about that first snowfall.

  3. Such nice alliteration, and a slow, easy rhythm -- just like autumn's coming.

  4. "the mushrooms ... the maples . . . the marigolds " You have sung the song of my garden, Teresa, and they have that late mid-season look that warns of a leaving. This is beautiful.

  5. Was eleven degrees when I got up this morning and we have a smidgen of snow on the ground. It is winter up here, past the last breath, and the leaves are off the trees. Was a beautiful autumn, though. :)
    Lovely poem.
