So many of our "wants" and "needs" have little to do with human life. Imposed from without, they contribute nothing to growth: unless, of course, it's the growth of the merchandisers' and politicians' bank accounts. (Here ends the morning cynicism.)
One of the advantages of having a long life to look back on is the ability to now see what parts were frivolous and what parts worthy. I think that's the wisdom we gain with time.
I also love the "what is", in the world beyond the cities.
