Wrong Turn

... a wrong turn down a forest road
 on an unfamiliar night

... until the lights of some small town

... lost like me / at the edge of a long ago summer

The photograph is mine.

  1. Fine photo, and with that closing line of your poem, reminds me of the town I spent my teen years in, how it felt.

    1. Towns such as this still play a large part in my life ... this is both a good and a not so good thing ... :)

  2. A lonesome town. And poem. What town is it, Teresa?

    1. The town that appeared when I was actually lost on a forest road at night was a little town called Emily, but this photo was taken in my little town, near where I live, Pine River, also the name of the river that flows on my land. It's growing smaller by the year ...

  3. Sometimes a small town late at night can be an intense kind of lonely.

    1. Yes, well said. It's a very specific, yet vague feeling ...
