Sweet William

... stretching ... swaying ... on long green legs sweet william by the river

  1. In Victorian flower language, Sweet William means loving alertness, finesse and the favor of a smile. Certainly apposite to your excellent photo and poem.

  2. There are occasional moments when it seems possible to actually bathe in colour, or to catch its taste or scent. Your beautiful photograph makes me think of that. I could swim in those green shadowy depths! And I love the poem too!

    1. I love the play of light and shadow in the photo. I had a longer poem dealing with that, but condensed it further. I'm definitely in my less is more phase. :) Thank you so much, Peter.

  4. Very pretty contrasts of deep color! We have some here too in various places, all cherished.

    1. I will admit to deepening the color just a wee bit for the poem ... There are some wonderfully deep greens in the woods along the river and several colors of sweet william, but this color won the day. Thanks, Montucky!
