Sitting Bull At Dusk

... we knew he wasn't buried there / we brought our offering anyway

... carved stone from the black hills

... at dusk // up and down the river ............ strong hearts beating

    1. His story is both inspiring and sad ... so very sad ... I like to think his heart is beating still ...

  2. You've struck a chord here. There is a Sitting Bull quote I have always found stabilizing:"Inside, there are two dogs. One is mean, the other is good and they fight each other all the time. When asked which one wins I answer, the one I feed the most.” The great respect I confer on the man who said that has no particular location. It's a universal axiom.

    1. ... you and he are so absolutely right ... the best thoughts are universal ... we all could learn from people who understand that all life is connected, One.

  3. A great Oglala, an inspirational Native American, and a wonderful human. That you took the time to honor him is simply beautiful.

    1. My younger son and I were on our way back from camping in the Black Hills and went the northern route to pay tribute ... right at dusk, above the river ... a magical moment. Thank you, Bill.
