Unwritten Poems

... beneath the paperweight / my mother's poems

... she shaped them into loaves of bread

... fed them to her children

  1. My mum used to bake bread from a recipe which went back in her family history. It had raisins in it. My sister still has it and uses it in her own home in Ontario. I can't bake but if I did I would try to make poetic bread as you have.

  2. I have the impression that your mother had poetry in her. My mother would never have thought about writing poetry, but I like the analogy you have made here.

    1. And, music, too ... she was very encouraging to me about writing ... I think she had some great poems in her ... in many ways, for me, her life was a poem ... maybe everybody's is ...

  4. Ahhhhhhhhhh bread. The staff of life. We share a passion for meaningful bread. Great poem, great photo. Everything fits so nicely. This is one of my all time favorites and that is high praise for your talents.

    1. Yes, one of my favorite things, a good loaf of bread ... homemade all the better. It's really a wonderful metaphor, too. I'm so glad you like this poem. Our moms are pretty special people. :)

  5. Yes indeed. Way that strawberry jam your mom used to make? Lightly toasted homemade bread with jam is fabulous.
