The Object of My Affection

                                                   ... below my kitchen window

... a young whitetail / the object of my affection

... rubs his antlers on an empty apple tree

Painting: Jeanie Tomanek

  1. Dear Teresa, this poem connects with one of those evenings in which I silently remember many wonderful people I have loved, lost or simply lost track of --like my friend of over 60 years here in Vineyard, who died at 71 because he couldn't help it. I still keep a blanket in the barn for his cat to sleep on --friendly gray thing, which I suppose I am too.
