Just winter coming on, I think. I have always enjoyed the comforting sound of water moving since I was a kid and I bet you have, too. ;)

I was born beside the Sacramento River and remember barges braying at our Pocket turn. I'm pretty deaf now but late at night, I hear a faint train whistle a few miles away, headed south and feel the same calm. I suspect the comfort of the river persists even where it isn't.
I grew up with the comforting sound of a train whistle late at night. Rivers and trains ... and the comfort they bring.
